OK, before you watch this new trailer for The Little Mermaid, we have to manage your expectations right now!

No, this is the off OFF brand version, the money-grab, probably straight-to-RedBox, knockoff — kind of like Snow Queen was to Frozen, only the name The Little Mermaid is public domain.
This film stars relative unknowns Poppy Drayton (The Shannara Chronicles) and William Moseley (Prince Liam on The Royals). Its biggest claim to fame is scoring Oscar winner Shirley MacLaine.
Don’t believe us this is a fly-by-night organization? The official trailer isn’t even in HD!
Nevertheless, the first look has caught fire, with a million and a half views in its first 24 hours. (So if you were just clicking on it hoping to hear Kiss The Girl, you’re in good company.)
