This Disney Star Gets Hit In The Head During Oscars, Still Kills It

Theres no telling how far Aulii Cravalho will go after getting through this.

While singing the Oscar-nominated How Far Ill Go during Sundays Academy Awards, the 16-year-old star from Disneys Moana experienced an unexpected onstage gaffe, appearing to get hit in the head by a flag-like stage prop.

Cravalho just finished singing the lyric, What is wrong with me? before seemingly getting brushed in the dome. The ocean kept helping Moana throughout the movie. Where were you on that one, dude?

Despite getting nailed in the noggin, the actress kept on singing. And she killed it.

Thats how you go from on-screen Disney hero to one in real life.

Moms 2 Kids Have Totally Opposite Reactions When She Tells Them Theyre Going To Disney World

Gavin and Kendall, like many young siblings, probably have a lot in common. But if this video is any indication, the one thing they definitely don’t have in common is their thoughts on Disney World!

The video below was filmed in San Mateo, California, by the kids’ mom. She filmed the moment she told them she had some good news, and some bad news.

The bad news comesfirst: She tellsthem they’re no longer going to the beach that week.

Both Gavin and Kendall arevery distressed by this news.

But there’s still the good news: Mom saysthey decided to go back to Disney instead.

This ismusic to Kendall’s ears. She getsup off her feet and cheers.

But, as you’ll see, Gavin hasa very, very different reaction.

His sister giveshim a playful shove, as if to celebrate their upcoming trip. Instead, Gavin’s shout turns into a cry of disappointment, and he buries his face in his hands before smashing it into the couch.

Mom isconfused.

Even Kendall sitsback down, a wary smile on her face, as if to say “OK, I know I’m happy, but I don’t know what’s going on with him!”

Of course, the explanation isplain.

“I wanted to go on the beach on vacation!” Gavin cries.

Well, as Mom says, they’re still going on vacation, but Disney won over the beach this time!

Hopefully they findsome spare time to take poor Gavin for a swim.

Disney Researchers Make Wireless Power Transfer Breakthrough

Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and breakthroughs in wireless power transfer? Yep, scientists at a branch of the Walt Disney Company called Disney Research have found a way to charge devices on a room-scale without using any wires.

Wireless power is an idea that goes back to the 19th century, with Serbian-American inventor Nikola Tesla perhaps being its most famous proponent. But getting it to work has been a bit of a problem, with the extent of modern wireless power coming mostly in the form of electric toothbrushes or flat charging pads for phones.

A team at Disney Research, though, showed how they were able to transmit power in an entire room, powering a variety of devices while remaining relatively safe for humans. They published their findings in the journal PLOS ONE.

Wireless power delivery has the potential to seamlessly power our electrical devices as easily as data is transmitted through the air, they wrote in a brief statement. However, existing solutions are limited to near contact distances and do not provide the geometric freedom to enable automatic and un-aided charging.

To solve this, the team came up with quasistatic cavity resonance (QSCR), where magnetic fields are generated to deliver kilowatts of power to receivers. These receivers can be connected to a device, like a phone or fan, to supply it with power.

The room built by Disney Research was lined with aluminum panels. In its center was a copper tube between the floor and the ceiling, with a current running through it. Fifteen capacitors in the pole are used to set a resonant frequency in the room and isolate electric fields from a signal generator, which outputs at 1.32 MHz. A uniform magnetic field is then run through the room at the same frequency.

The receivers use a coil of wire to resonate at the same frequency, providing power to a device. The researchers were able to deliver about 1,900 watts with an efficiency of 40 to 95 percent.

There are a couple of issues, though. First is obviously the need for an aluminum-encased room, although they note their design 54 cubic meters (1,900 cubic feet) can easily be scaled up or down. Also, the circular nature of the magnetic field produced means receivers only work when at right angles to it, although this can be solved with three coils pointing in different directions.

It’s safe for the most part too, although the researchers note people shouldn’t stand closer than 46 centimeters (18 inches) to the pole, which exceeds federal guidelines for how much energy a human can be subjected to, known asspecific absorption rate (SAR). Oh, and if you’re pumping 1,900 watts into the room, you also need devices to be using this to remain safe.

Otherwise, sign us up.

Disney Unveils New Cast Photo Of The Han Solo Star Wars Spinoff! Check It Out!

We like these odds.

Harrison Ford probably shouldn’t be landing the Millennium Falcon these days, so it’s a good thing Alden Ehrenreich is ready to take command.

But the actor isn’t riding solo just yet — as Disney unveiled the first cast photo from its young Han Solo Star Wars spinoff!

The 27-year-old sits alongside costars Donald Glover (young Lando Calrissian), Emilia Clarke, Woody Harrelson, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

Also shown manning the controls are director’s Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. And let’s not forget Joonas Suotamo as Chewbaca!

We have to say, with that smuggler’s grin and old school Harrison hair-do, Ehrenreich certainly looks ready to woo Princess Leia!

The untitled Han Solo Star Wars story hits theaters May 25, 2018.

Camera Catches Dad Breaking Down In Tears After Son Surprises Him Aboard Disney Cruise

Family vacations are more than just an experience somewhere new and exciting. They’re a memory that you’ll make and have forever, with the ones you love the most.

And as we get older, the times we have with our loved ones may dwindle, and the opportunities we have to spend vacations and long periods of time together definitely become more scarce. But it’s videos like the one belowthat remind us how important it is to make time for our family.

The filmer posted this video of her family boarding a Disney cruise out of Port Canaveral, Florida. Her dad, in a motorized scooter because of recent health issues, and the rest of the family walkin toward the main area.

But the best part is when a surprise character comes into play, and it’s not a Disney character it’s a character from their family!

Dad’s son, and the filmer’s brother, who wasn’t originally supposed to come on the trip, ended up being able to make it and surprise his parents after all.

Thankfully, the entire thing wason camera. And while his mom freaks out and screams with joy, his dad has a much more surprising and sentimental response.

He goesfrom smiling to crying, and the moment is truly magical! I’m sure this Disney cruise was a vacation they’ll never forget.

You’ve Never Seen Disney Princesses Quite Like This, But You’ll Love It

Have you ever wondered what happened after “happily ever after” in your favorite Disney movies? This artist reimagined everyone’s favorite princesses as moms, and the result is stunning!

When Massachusetts-based artist and animator Isaiah Stephens was contacted by Cosmopolitan to illustrate Disney princesses as moms and expecting moms, he knew he had a lot to live up to. After all, the only princess we ever saw have a kid was Ariel, and that movie wasn’t so great! What he came up with, however, makes me wish these were scenes from real Disney movies.

Sleeping Beauty is the kind of badass who would definitely have a home birth. I bet the Fairy Godmothers delivered!

These two are going to be some FIERCE parents. They’ll definitely bring honor to the family.

No one will complain about Belle breastfeeding in public with the Beast nearby.

Disney Reveals When You Can Finally Visit The New ‘Star Wars’ And ‘Avatar’ Lands

The wait is almost over! Disney has announced the opening dates for new theme park attractions based on the Star Wars and Avatar movies.

A Star Wars-inspired area is set to open in 2019 at Disneyland in Anaheim, California, as well as at Walt Disney Worlds Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Florida.

Meanwhile, the Pandora: The World of Avatar attraction will open on May 27 just in time for Memorial Day weekend this year as part of Disney Worlds Animal Kingdom. Disney CEO Bob Iger announced the datesduring the companys earnings call on Tuesday.

The Avatar-inspired attraction will include floating mountains, bioluminescent plants, twonew ridesand shops featuring Navi art.

At 14 acres each, the two Star Wars ventures will be the largest single-themed land expansions at Disneyland and Disney World. The new attractions will resemble a remote trading post on an alien planet, and will include a ride thatallows guests to pilot the iconic Millennium Falcon.

Details are still sparse, but guests can expect to find themselves in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance, Iger said in 2015.

The new land will open the same year Star Wars: Episode IX is expected to hit theaters.

CORRECTION: An earlier version of this article incorrectly stated that Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be released in 2019. Star Wars: Episode IX will be released in 2019. Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be released in 2017.

Disney CEO Will Miss Meeting With Trump Amid Backlash Over Travel Bans

Walt Disney Co.Chief Executive Bob Iger will no longer attend President Donald Trumpsmeeting with corporate leaders Friday, The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline reported.

The meeting will bring more than a dozen executives, all members of an advisory board known as Trumps Strategy and Policy Forum, to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. to discuss the presidents economic policy plans. Those executives have faced pressure to boycott the meeting in response to Trumps executive order banning refugees and citizens of seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the U.S.

Iger will instead attend a previously scheduled company board meeting at Disney headquarters in California. According to the New York Times Brooks Barnes, Iger told the White House last week he couldnt attend after Trumps team changed the date of the meeting. A source at Disney, who asked to remain anonymous, confirmed this account but wouldnt comment further. The White House didnt return a request for comment.

Other executives set to attend the forum meeting include JPMorgan Chases Jamie Dimon, GMs Mary Barra and Blackstone Groups Stephen A. Schwarzman (who is the chairman of the forum). Its unclear if Iger plans to attend future meetings or if he will continue to advise the president.

Uber CEO Travis Kalanick was also a member of the forum and had planned to attend Fridays meeting. However, Kalanick resigned from the advisory board Thursdayafter intense criticism over his role on the board as well as the companys decision to keep Uber drivers on the road during a work stoppage by the New York Taxi Workers Alliance in solidarity with protests against Trumps Muslim ban. Over the weekend, #DeleteUber took hold on social media networks as angry Uber customers vowed to boycott the ride-hailing company for what they saw as tacit approval of Trumps policies.

Other executives on the advisory board, including Iger, have also faced criticism, though not at the level of the Uber boycott. A petition organized by consumer watchdog group SomeOfUs calling on the members of the advisory board to condemn Trumps executive order and resign from the board has drawn more than 115,000 signatures.

Iger is a frequent Democratic donorand co-hosted a fundraiser for presidential candidate Hillary Clinton last summer. Upon joining the forum late last year, Iger described the group as nonpartisan.

The forum provides a nonpartisan approach to key economic policy issues, reflecting an array of individual perspectives from a cross-section of industries, he said in a statement. I welcome the chance to be part of the important discussions about the most effective ways to grow jobs and expand economic opportunity in America.

Iger has not commented on Trumps travel ban.

CORRECTION: An early version of this article referred to Stephen A. Schwarzman as from Blackrock. He is chairman and CEO of The Blackstone Group.

Petition Seeks To Silence Trump’s Figure in Disney’s Hall of Presidents

President Donald Trump will join Disney Worlds Hall of Presidents in June, theres no stopping that. What Trump critics do hope to stop: his running mouth.

More than 3,600 people have signed a petition asking that the presidents animatronic figure at the long-standing Florida attraction is silent, reasoning that the family-friendly park is not an appropriate place for a Trump speech.

The educational attraction features life-like animatronics of each U.S. president, many of which deliver inspiring speeches and recount American history. Matthew Rogers, who launched the online petition last week, said thats precisely why Trumps voice shouldnt be heard.

Donald Trump ran a Presidential campaign on hateful speech, misogyny, racism and xenophobia. In doing so, he has tainted the legacy of the American Presidency forever, the Brooklyn, New York, resident wrote. The Magic Kingdom at Disney World is a place specifically designed for the enjoyment of children and families. Therefore, it is not an appropriate place for a Donald Trump speech.

A Disney spokesman, reached by The Huffington Post earlier this month on the attraction, said that its not yet known whether Trumps figure will make a speech or not.

Both George W. Bush and Barack Obamas figures gave speeches to the audience during their respective time in office. A video released by the White House in 2009 shows Obama recording his figures audio.

Should Disney go ahead and add some Trump audio to his dummy, some of his most infamous quotes include Grab them by the pussy, I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldnt lose any voters, and My fingers are long and beautiful, as, it has been well documented, are various other parts of my body.

A request for comment from Disney on whether it will consider the petition was not immediately returned Tuesday. Should it consider the request, theres another one brewing in its comment section. That one reads: Bring back Maelstrom.

10 Old Disneyland Attractions That Will Take You Back In Time

Disneyland opened its gates for the first time on July 17, 1955, in California.

It cost $1 to get into the park and $7.60 to get on all of the 18 attractions that were available that day. That seems pretty cheap compared to the $100 price tag there is today!

Other Disney parks have opened since then, butDisneylandis the only one overseen from start to finish by Walt Disney himself.

Many of the attractions from opening day are now gone, or they’ve since gotten a huge makeover to keep them in perfect running orderfor the millions of people who visit each year.

Disneyland and other Disney parks often shared many of the same rides, though avid fans will swear that one ride in Disneyland is slightly different from the version in Florida’s Walt Disney World.

If you’ve visited Disneyland, do you remember which ride was your favorite? I know I would spend half the day in Tomorrowland, trying to see how many times I could go on the “rides to the moon” there.

Sadly, not every ride is still standing, though we can feel nostalgic looking back on some of the coolest attractions the park used to offer!

1. America Sings – 1974 to 1988

1.

America Sings replaced the Carousel of Progress at Disneyland after the Carouselmoved to Walt Disney World.

The ride was a moving theater that rotated in acounter-clockwise direction. It featured a cast of animatronic animals that sang to the audience in styles from various periods in America’s musical history.

However, the ride had been built to celebrate the bicentennial. It eventually felt very outdated once that milestone passed, especially since it was placed in the futuristic Tomorrowland. The ride was closed and replaced by Innovations in 1988, though that ridewas also later replaced.

2. Mine Train Through Natures Wonderland – 1960 to 1977

2.

Mine Train came to Disneyland to replaceRainbow Caverns when Walt Disney requested that more humor be brought to the attractions.

Guests boarded a train in Frontierland in a fictionalWestern town, then went through Rainbow Ridge to travel through the desert area, making stops in places like Bear Country and Beaver Valley.

The attraction was popular during its runfor being a fun and colorful wild West adventure. However, the eventual desire for more thrill-seeking ridesled to it being replaced by Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.

3. PeopleMover – 1967 to 1995

3.

The PeopleMover is one of those classic Disney rides that almost everyone can remember. The ride was always on the go, as passengers boarded it on a moving platform.

In Disneyland, it gave peoplea circle tour of Tomorrowland, witheach train providing a running commentary during the ride. It passed through a few buildings in Tomorrowland, while also passing over Autopia and Submarine Voyage.

The ride closed in 1995, as Disney Imagineers felt that it was outdated and was being used as a place for people to rest their feet. The ride may have closed then, but the track still remains in Disneyland to this day. In 2010, it was even slightly hinted that there is a chance the ride could come back one day. It still operates currently in Walt Disney World as the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover.

4. Rocket to the Moon / Mission to Mars – 1955 to 1992

4.

The ride first began as Rocket to the Moon. As we entered the Space Race in the ’60s, the name waschanged to Rocket to Mars and then toMission to Mars.

Disney actually worked with NASA when creating the attraction, making it a realisticventure into space for park visitors. Though the ride was a huge hit with those who loved the idea of traveling to the moon or Mars, its closure came rather abruptly.

The mission was shut down to open new rides in the building as plans for a refurbished Tomorrowland were put in place. Over at Disneyland Paris, high refurbishment costs meant the ride was left unused until 1998, when it was finally turnedintoRedd Rockett’s Pizza Port.

5. The Motor Boat Cruise – 1957 to 1993

5.

The Motor Boat Cruise was a successful man-operated boat excursion at Disneyland, as opposed to the failed Phantom Boats that closed in 1956.

The ride survived many decades, serving as a simple but fun way to take guests across differentparts of the park.

It was renamed the Motor Boat Cruise to Gummi Glen in 1991, before shutting down in 1993 in order to fund the building of Mickey’s Toontown.

6. Tom Sawyer Island – 1956 to 2016

6.

Tom Sawyer Island had seen a few facelifts over the course of its run at Disneyland.

When the park first opened, the island was inaccessible to visitors, unless they thought to try and swim out to it! Guests could finally reach the island by motorized raft starting in 1956.

Places likeFort Wilderness were at one time open to all guests, though weather damage, neglect, and visitor accidents led to them being knocked down.

In 2007, the entire island was redesigned as Pirate’s Lair to coincidewith interest in Pirates of the Caribbean. The spot was again closed in 2016 to make way foraStar Wars area.

7. Rocket Jets – 1967 to 1997

7.

The Rocket Jets ride came during the heavily beloved SpaceAge that took over Tomorrowland. Unlike some other dated space projects, the Rocket Jets lasted for 30 years.

For those who are very familiar with Disney rides or remember this one vividly, it was similar to the Dumbo ride in that you could raise and lower your rocket on your own. Though unlike Dumbo, you boarded the Rocket Jets aboveground, on a platform directly above the PeopleMover.

It was replaced by the Astro Orbiter after closing in 1997.

8. Skyway – 1956 to 1994

8.

The Skyway took visitors between Tomorrowland and Fantasyland in the park.

When it opened, it was the first of its kind in the United States. Disney Imagineering bought the ride from Switzerland.

It was such an interesting option for visitors who didn’t feel like walking, as they could get an aerial view of the park while passing through one of its popular attractions, the Matterhorn.

It closed in 1994 due to metal fatigue that required the Matterhorn being opened up. The area inside the Matterhorn that was once opened for the Skyway was quickly patched up.

9. Big Thunder Ranch – 1986 to 2016

9.

Big Thunder Ranch opened in 1986 in Frontierland as an adventure area for park visitors. It had a petting zoo, though that was eventually removed to make room for an outdoor theater.

The area often hosted seasonal-themed events during its 30-year run. But much like Tom Sawyer Island, it was closed in 2016 to make room for the Star Wars-themed area in the park.

10. Adventure Through Inner Space – 1967 to 1986

10.

This was another Tomorrowland attraction meant to echo the Space Age and take visitors to another planet.

What made this different from the other attractions was that you were“shrunk down” to the size of an atom. Riders were greeted by a scientist’s voice as they boarded the ride and embarked on their adventure.

Like other rides in Tomorrowland, this was closed to make way for another attractionof the future: the Star Tours ride, which operates to this day.

Did we miss one of your favorite Disneyland rides that is no longer in operation? Tell us in the comments, and don’t forget to SHARE this with your fellow Disney fanatics!
