A British woman who sold thousands of dollars worth of fake Disneyland tickets to friends wont be heading to jail for the crime.
According to the Mirror, 28-year-old Ellie Catchesides sold several tickets to Disneyland Paris via her Facebook account. In all, Cathesides sold tickets to four people including a woman she had been friends with for 15 years.

Catchesides, a mother of three, claimed to have purchased the passes to the French tourist attraction but told followers she was unable to make the trek and would instead sell them for a reduced price. Those tickets which were fake were sold for 1,500 pounds (about $1,880).
One mother set up a JustGiving group for fraud victims upon discovery of the incident. Her evidence was used in Woolwich Crown Court when the case was heard March 21. Catchesides eventually admitted to four counts of fraud.
At first my friend thought it was just me it happened to but upon looking further into it I have found that I am not alone, said Catchesides’ friend and victim Jade Miller.
On one occasion a family turned up on the day ready to travel to Disneyland with children in tow to discover the heart-breaking truth.

Catchesides first claimed to be a victim of a fraud on her own and stated that she was scared to leave her home but she ultimately admitted to her role in the Disneyland scam.
You sold fake trips to people who no doubt work hard and were hoping they had a chance to go on holiday that might be enjoyable for them and their family, said Judge Andrew Lees during his closing statement.
“But it turned out you were committing a mean and dishonest offense against them and there was some persistence in what you were doing, he said.
Catchesides was sentenced to complete 140 hours of unpaid work for her role in the scam but she will not be going to jail.

“Pandora – The World of Avatar” officially opens as an expansion of Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park Saturday, May 27. The “Shaman of Songs” is one of the Na’vi – the tall, blue, humanoid inhabitants of Pandora. She is also Disney’s most advanced Audio-Animatronics figure to date. Her wild movements are so smooth you’ll think there’s a real person behind them. But the real connection is made when she looks you in the eye as you sail by. The store, Windtraders, allows guests to take home their own shoulder-sitting banshee (only after taking the Na’vi oath to take care of it, of course). Those with extra energy can take part in an interactive drum circle that changes the entire soundtrack of the land with every hit. After dark, Pandora takes on a new personality as its many plants, and even the floating mountains, glow vibrantly from within– a feature fans of Disney fireworks show will love.
With several “Avatar” movie sequels in the works, the team behind the films expects the park will only elevate guests’ connection to Pandora and its inhabitants.

Disneyland might be the “Happiest Place on Earth,” but there’s a decent chance if you encounter some of these shoddy Disney products, you won’t be feeling too thrilled.
I’m sure Disney is very careful about who they license their characters to, but mistakes happen, and often these products are the result of knock-off artists who are just looking to make a quick buck.

Donald Trump is known for speaking boldly, brashly, and commanding large audiences. Whether or not audiences agree with what he has to say, when Trump speaks, people listen. But one place where the 45th president may not have a chance to make his voice heard anytime soon isDisneys Hall of Presidents.
A Change.org petition advocating for a silent Trump in the Hall of Presidents has earned nearly 14,000 signatures, and it looks like Disney may be listening.
According to Motherboard, there’s been extensive drama backstage at Disney regarding designs for an animatronic Trump and whether he’ll speak remains in doubt.
Matt Rogers, who launched the petition in January, told the Daily Dot it all started as a joke.

It was a tweet, but as I was writing it I was like wait no I actually believe this, said Rogers.
He added, “Trump’s record shows that hes not capable of respecting everybody. And his language is not appropriate for family audiences.”
When a friend jokingly responded that shed sign a Change.org petition for the cause, Rogers decided to take the joke to its natural conclusion and drafted the petition.
While Rogers was surprised and delighted to see his signature numbers climb, hes doubtful that his petition has had any real impact on Disneys decision-making process. I dont actually think that it did anything, said Rogers. I think that the reason its not happening is because hes just miserable to work with…I dont think Disney wants to do it.
According to a source close to Walt Disney Imagineering, Disney never imagined they’d have to do it in the first place. The source told Motherboard, “They were convinced that Hillary was going to win. They were having conversations in late October and early November on how to dress her. ‘Should it be the pantsuit she wore at the National Convention? Or should it be a darker color?’ They were thinking along those lines. No one was giving any serious thought to it being Trump.”
Bill Clinton was the first president to make a speech at the attraction and others have followed suit, but given the polarizing nature of our current president, sources say Disney may have to rethink the attraction.
This isn’t the first time Disney has had to reengineer its attraction. Following the 1992 Los Angeles riots, Disney brought in historian Eric Foner to draft a new script for the attraction. The hyper-patriotism of the original script read as tone deaf amidst social and political turmoil.
Foner told Motherboard, “They asked me, ‘What’s your concept, Professor?’ And my concept was that the American Revolution set forth a group of ideals, and we have been struggling since then to live up to those ideals. We’ve made progress, but we still have more .”
So will Trump remain silent in the Hall of Presidents? Time will tell.
But, Rogers, a long-time Disney fan, remains hopeful.“I have been going to Disney since I was a young kid, andIhave respect for what is…I just dont want to see it soiled.”
He added, “Its still sort of a joke to me.But I LOVE that people are taking it seriously.”

The animated shorts will air on Disney XD, starring voice actorJoshKeaton (Netflix’sVoltron) as Scott Lang, Paul Rudd‘s character in the movie. Judging by a couple of images published inEntertainment Weekly, they will have a similar visual style to vintage Ant-Man comics.
Each episode is about six minutes long, bridging the gap betweenAnt-Man and its sequel. They’re made by the same production company as theGuardians of the Galaxy spinoff series about Groot and Rocket Raccoon.

He explains, in addition to recently celebrating their one year anniversary,he and Chris were going to be moving soon in order for him to go to grad school. He knew, then, that it was the right time to pop the question.
As far as deciding where to propose went, there was no doubt in his mind that Disneyland was the perfect destination.
You see, Disneyland wasnt a random choice for their proposal destination. Eugenius310says, Chris encouraged me to get an annual pass a year ago and weve been going every month since. He continued, His favorite ride is Splash Mountain, so I knew I wanted to do it on that ride.
A couple months ago,Eugenius310saw a woman come out to her mother on Splash Mountain. He tells Elite Daily, I thought it was amazing and thats when I got the idea to propose on the ride.
Even though the proposal just took place this past Monday,Eugenius310has had it ready to rock for months.
I made the sign in February right before my brother was deployed to Japan with my niece and nephews, he said. I knew I wanted them to be a part of it because they love Chris so much!
When the day finally rolled around, the park happened to be extremely busy. ButEugenius310was pleased to find out that the line for Splash Mountain was just a short five minutes. He wanted to get it out of the way first so Chris wouldnt start getting suspicious: I was so nervous about the proposal and I didnt want him to see the sign in my pocket.
He managed to get the attention of a cast member who was more than happy to help arrange for them to get their very own log on the boat for the proposal. He says,Chris didnt realize what was going on and I was able to do the proposal without any spoilers!
Before they boarded the roller coaster,Eugenius310told Chris he wanted them to pretend to be shocked for the on-ride camera. Chris followed along, still not knowing what was going on.
But then, when they finally got off the ride, thats when the magic happened: When we got off the ride, he saw the photo and cried. I got down on one knee and asked him to spend the rest of his life with me.
And the two lived happily ever after.
Thats it. IF SOMEONE DOESNT PROPOSE TO ME ON MY FAVORITE RIDE, THEN IM SAYING NO.

Disney fans got a peek at the World of Avatar park set to open in May last month, andnow theyre getting a glimpse of the other new galaxycoming to the theme parks.
A new video shared by Disney Parks on Thursday revealed early construction on one of the looming figures that will inhabit the Star Wars-themed areas that will eventually become part of Disneyland and Disney World. As Disney demonstrates with animated footage of what the AT-ATs will eventually look like, its only the beginning.
The Star Wars theme parks will open in 2019.

Well, maybe this is one way to get PresidentDonald Trump to stop talking.
Disney World, which traditionally has given speaking roles to presidential robots in its Hall of Presidents, is reportedly considering a non-speaking Trump to avoid offending visitors.
The Florida resorts Hall of Presidents, currently closed, features robotic versions of all previous American presidents. A robot Trump will join the ranks when the hall reopens later this year.
The animatronic Trump was to have been unveiled June 30,Walt Disney World Today, a website devoted to Disney park news, reported in April. Disney World hasnt confirmed a reopening date.
But a theme park with the goal of pleasing everyone hasnt quite figured out how to portray a president who inspires very extreme reactions,Motherboard reports, citing a source close to Walt Disney Imagineering.
Since the mid-1990s,Disneys Hall of Presidents has featured a recorded statement from the current president, including Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama.
Trump, however,hasnt made himself available to record a speech for his robot, Motherboard reports.
Then theres the matter of Trumps unpopularity.
Given how polarizing the president is right now, Disney Parks & Resorts is currently trying to find [a solution] that approaches middle ground, the source told Motherboard. They want to include our 45th commander-in-chief in this 45-year-old theme park attraction, while at the same time, not seem to endorse or support some of Trumps more controversial policies.
Sources told Walt Disney World Today and Motherboard that Trump will most likely be shown in a non-speaking capacity.
Disney also appears to be in a non-speaking capacity about the attraction, failing to respond to multiple inquiries from HuffPost.
Disney World typically hypes the addition of a new president to the exhibit with photos and press releases.Not so with Trump, according to Tom Corless, who runs Walt Disney World Today.
Three months into Obamas administration, they showed photos of him recording lines for the exhibit and photos of his figure, Corless told HuffPost. They havent even mentioned that this time.
Disney CEO Robert Iger announced shortly after the November election that Trump would be added to the hall, sparking a backlash.
One petition asks Disney to make sure Trumps animatronic figure didnt speak, especially since some of his more famous quotes Grab them by the pussy, I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldnt lose any voters, and My fingers are long and beautiful, as, it has been well documented, are various other parts of my body arent nearly as inspiring as, say, Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country.

Disneylands Pirate of the Caribbean ride has become a litmus test for theme park ride success around the world and this weekend, the original attraction in Anaheim, Calif. will celebrate its 50th anniversary. Yes, that’s fifty years of swashbuckling adventurers, imprisoned mateys and singing bar patrons.
It’s the ride not only that set the stage for a multi-billion dollar movie franchise, but since establishing itself as a must-see attraction at Disney parks around the world, it’s maintained a cult-like following for decades.
5 MAJOR CHANGES HAPPENING AT DISNEY THIS YEAR
Launched on March 18, 1967, the original “Pirates” ride featured a 1,838-foot flume with a 12-minute running time, making it one of the longest theme park rides in existence. The attraction quickly became a fan favorite and an icon for the park that had just opened two years earlier. The ride was one of the first to combine multiple elements for users to enjoy: audio animatronics (via realistic looking human robots), a double drop, theatrical effects and more.
According to The San Diego Union-Tribune, the attraction was also the last one personally overseen by Walt Disney himself, who would die from lung cancer just three months before the ride opened for guests.
According to Disneyland, approximately 400 million guests have traveled on the ride following its debut a half century ago. That was due in large part to the park’s revolutionary use of the audio animatronics and stage effects, which permitted Disney to run the show more frequently than other rides– often allowing tens of thousands of visitors each day.

Its also inspired countless long-form animatronic attractions from the Indiana Jones Adventure to Harry Potter and plenty of others.
Sure, there have been plenty of changes to the attraction since the 1960s, including the incorporation of new characters from the film franchise starring Johnny Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow. But theres only one original– and the park will be commemorating the occasion accordingly.
‘TANGLED’ STAR CLAIMS DISNEY TURKEY LEGS ARENT ACTUALLY TURKEY
Starting Thursday, Disneyland will celebrate the milestone with pirate-themed food specials (like Jolly Roger Punch and Lost Treasure Beignets) in New Orleans Square through the weekend. Limited edition souvenirs will also be up for sale, and of course Captain Jack Sparrow will make an appearance to celebrate the anniversary.
And if excitement over the Pirates of the Caribbean world hasnt been sated yet, fans will get plenty of thrills with the a fifth installment in the popular franchise – Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales – comes to theaters this May.

The curious case of the stroller thief!
You gotta be a real jerk to steal someone’s stroller and then try to sell it online. Some people, man. SMH.
One woman, Lauren Collazzo, of Miami, FL had this happen to her during a family trip at Walt Disney World in Orlando. She had stowed the stroller in one of the many stroller parking lots around the park, but upon her return found the Buggaboo gone with all of her valuables, including her wallet, car keys, and her niece’s Epipen.
She told WFTS News:
“I was there with no money, stranded. My husband had to fly over from Miami that same day, catch the first flight available to rescue me and my family.”
Security guards were able to find the thief via security footage. Collazzo and her husband took a screenshot (below) of the footage and posted the picture to a Disney Club Facebook group to try and find the woman responsible.
“I took that picture and posted it on social media, and through the power of social media [I] made it go viral. And I was able to obtain information on who this person is and actually see the post of my stroller being sold online.”
Through the post, Collazzo found that her stroller had already been sold to a woman in Texas named Thalia Rogers. Rogers had bought the stroller through a Facebook group and quickly realized that it had been stolen. She had already paid $500 for it.
Rogers told WCMH News:
“[The thief] somehow, I guess, found the post that Lauren [Collazzo] had posted, and I don’t know if she freaked out or what happened, and she called us and said send it back to her. So, I didn’t even get the stroller.”
The thief essentially intercepted the UPS delivery to reclaim the stroller.
Rogers got in touch with Collazzo, and detectives were able to get an arrest warrant for Michelle Craig, also a Florida resident, who is currently under investigation for the thefts of other luxury strollers from the park. Craig has turned herself in to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office. She faces the charge of Grand Theft.
