Growing up, Disney Channel Original Movies were my jam.
From well-knowns like Brink!, Halloweentown, and High School Musical,to the more obscure Stepsister from Planet WeirdandDouble Teamed, my weekend was never quite complete without one of these babies streaming on the living room Zenith.
Zetus lapetus y’all. We’re about to indulge in so many sweet memories.

Brink!
By far one of the most well-known Disney Channel Original Movie (DCOM) flicks,Brink! is a classic little guy vs. the man tale. Andy “Brink” Brinker, member of the in-line skating team, Soul Skaters – who skate for fun, not money – learns that his family’s in financial trouble. So, he starts skating with the sponsored, and morally-questionable sell-outs, Team X-Bladz much to his Soul Skater friends’ dismay.
Drama ensues. Values are tested. Friendship prevails.
I also posit that many real-life skater crushes developed thanks to this cult classic.
Be real. You know you entertained aday dream or two, you saucy minx you.
Halloweentown
Halloweentownis yet another DCOM classic deeply engrained in the psyches of countless late ’90s tweens.
When Marnie, Dylan, and Sophie Piper’s grandma, Aggie, reveals the family’smagical heritage, the siblings ventureto her native Halloweentown to begin training. Once they arrive, though, they learnthat evil is afoot and set outon an epically heroic quest.
Any other Halloweentownfansever have moments in real lifemovie theatres when you’re sureKalabar’s hijacked the theatre and we’re all about to become hypnotized slaves? Oh, I’m the only one who locked onto that Halloweentown-inspiredirrational fear? Cool, cool.
The Luck of the Irish
When Kyle Johnson’s lucky coin goes missing, his body starts changing. His hair turns bright orange, his ears get pointy, and he starts seriously shrinking!
Johnson learns his true heritage – as half-Leprechaun. That lucky coin housedhis family’s luck, letting them pass as humans, and now it’s gone. Johnson has to battle an evil Leprechaun, Seamus, to get it back, and undoubtedly learns all sorts of lessons along the way.
Watching this movie, I always loved howhis mom was given this rich, shamrocky-green history as a Lepruchaun and his dad’s just, you know, from the Cleve. But what ELSE about his Dad, Disney? But. what. else?
Zenon, Girl of the 21st Century
ZENON! Zetus lapetus did I loved this gal.
Set in a near future, Zenon, Girl of the 21st Centuryis about Zenon Car, a space station-dwelling tween who gets deported to *gasp!* Earth after sparring with her space station’s owner. Once there, she realizes her space station is actually in trouble, and enlists the help of her new Earthling friends to save the day.
Zoom, zoom, zoom, this movie and its incessant ahead-of-its-time video chatting seriously made my heart go boom boom. My supernova girl!
Alley Cats Strike!
My heart never feltsuch passionfor bowling thenwhilst watchingAlley Cats Strike!
Retro-loving teen outsiders find themselves thrust into the spotlight after becoming entangledin an interschool bowling rivalry.
Also, Kaley Cuoco is in this movie. I repeat,Big Bang Theorys Kaley Cuoco is in this movie!
